The pocop (short for POV-Ray Cooperation) project started on June 1st 2003 as an idea.
Grumble, mas and KayDee (aka GMK) were having a wonderful pong match at elysiumart.org. They built a room of several common objects using POV-Ray to visualize that room. POV-Ray is a Raytracer that renders 3D scenes using plain text scripts as input.
Here is a picture of how the room looked at that time.
Since there was plenty of empty space in that room to fill in with more objects, Grumble started the pocop project to allow everyone to create new objects and place them in the room.
The goal is to create a perfectly detailed room. So:
The pocop project needs you!
You know POV-Ray? You have some free time? Well then go and create an object that could fit into the room and submit it! We well then take your object and render a new image of the room with your object in it. Everybody is able to participate as often as she or he wants to.
