ContrAmp

ContrAmp is little tool that allows you to control Winamp. It is intended to be used with the play/stop/prev/next buttons on multimedia keyboards.

Yes, most keyboards already allow to configure the actions of these buttons, but there are still some that don't. Especially laptop keyboards, or those by Dritek® or Compal® may only be configured using the Windows® Registry. And this is where ContrAmp comes in handy.

By calling the ContrAmp program using one of four paramteres, you can set Winamp to Play, Pause or Stop and you can go to the previous or next track. The following table explains in detail what each parameter does.

contramp.exe PAUSEIf Winamp is currently playing, it is set to pause. If it is currently in pause, it will resume playing.
contramp.exe STOPSets Winamp to stop the currently playing song.
contramp.exe NEXTAdvances to the next song in the playlist.
contramp.exe PREVPlays the previous song in the playlist.

The following screenshot of the registry shows an example how to configure the play-button on an Acer® Aspire Laptop.
